The map table at Lethariel’s west archive has two names for the same bend. One comes from the river circle. The other appears on maps kept by the west hall. The archive’s problem is to connect them without erasing either source.
The proposed index keeps one location record and adds a cross-reference for each local name. Searchers can find the place from either form, while the original map remains unchanged and keeps its own date.
That distinction matters because a map label is both a travel aid and a record of who named a place. Replacing one form with another would make the index simpler and the historical record less complete.
The archive will test the cross-index on three paths before applying it to the wider map shelf. Each entry will include its source and a correction route for residents who find a missing name.
The archive closed this docket by adopting the cross-index for the three tested paths. A new file will cover the next group of map entries.
